Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?

I want my students, family, friends, and the rest of the world to know my thoughts and be able to connect with me. I tend to “notice” a lot of things about the world, and I think other people might find those ideas valuable.

What topics do you think you’ll write about?

My interests are generally in education, science, and woodworking, but I’ll probably post on gardening, boardgaming, politics, men’s fashion, and other topics as well.

Who would you love to connect with via your blog?

My students and others around the world that share my interests. Folks committed to doing good and thinking deeply about the problems we face.

If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

I’ll be a better writer. I’ll be connected to a wider community of like-minded individuals to share and critique ideas, and, in the end, after I’m gone, maybe some of my ideas will continue on.
