This was a pattern from “The Woodcarver’s Dozen” by Celina Muire.
Also from Woodcarver’s Dozen. I still refine it every few days.
From Carving Caricature Faces by Pete LeClair. Still refining, but learned a lot about layout in the process
Fisherman that I carved with the local carving guild over zoom. Still needs paint.
Rough spoon from neightbor’s aspen. I’ve since reshaped this to a swedish style from Swedish Carving Techniques by Wille Sundqvist.
From a pretty squirrelly piece of Box Elder. This wood is hard and has lots of reversing grain, but I keep coming back to it.
I deepened the bowl a bit.
And roughed out the underside with a hatchet.
A pile of spoonlike objects taking form. Really enjoying using this Julie Kalthoff carving axe.
Some early carvings that I wanted to rush into service so I can see how the wood acts in use. Butter knife and spatula. Aspen. Not pretty, but shaped where it counts.
